 Letter from the Chancellor

Woodstream Christian Academy, a community of learning, exists to provide a classical and Christian education founded upon a Biblical worldview. We seek to equip our students to know, love, and practice that which is true, good and beautiful as they live purposefully and intelligently in the service of God and man. As a result, students will be Straight (ethically and morally grounded); Strong (able to endure the storms of life); and Sharp (used by God to hit His intended mark). To this end, Woodstream Christian Academy strives to do the following:

1. Teach all subjects in the curriculum as parts of an integrated whole with the Scripture as the center (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
2. Provide a clear model of biblical Christian life through the school staff and Board (Matthew 22:37-40).
3. Encourage every student to develop a personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20).
4. Emphasize grammar, logic, and rhetoric in all subjects. For the purposes of definition, grammar is to be understood as the fundamental rules and data of each subject; logic is to be understood as the ordered relationship of particulars in each subject;
rhetoric is to be understood as the means by which the grammar and logic of each subject may be expressed clearly.
5. Encourage every student to develop a love for learning and to achieve his maximum academic potential.
6. Provide an orderly and secure atmosphere conducive to maintaining these standards.

We pray that the standards set forth at WCA are what you and your family are seeking in an educational environment. We look forward to a productive and blessed school year. Thank you for choosing Woodstream Christian Academy, ‘A Community of Learning.’

Sincerely,

Chancellor Robert A. Wingfield, D.D.

Mission

The mission of Woodstream Christian Academy (WCA) is to provide a classical and Christian education that is founded upon a biblical worldview.

Vision

To raise up godly educated children who allow the Holy Spirit to control their lives. As a result they will be:
STRAIGHT – ethically and morally grounded
STRONG – able to endure the storms of life
SHARP – used by God to hit the intended mark

Purpose

Woodstream Christian Academy (WCA) exists to be a community of learning which equips students to know, love and practice that which is true, good and beautiful, while challenging them to strive for excellence as they live purposefully and intelligently in the service of God and man.

Motto

The WCA motto is the Latin phrase "Soli Deo Gloria," which means "To God alone be the glory." This short, profound conveys the essence of our purpose in life, to follow Christ the Lord in the totality of our being. We live under the authority of God and for His glory. We desire to conform every aspect of WCA to this all-encompassing principle. Every aspect of life is to be lived as worship to the Lord our God.

Classical Education

What is classical education

The term ‘classical’ refers to the period in history that began with the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and continued through the late nineteenth century. Classical education entailed distinct teaching methodologies for subjects such as mythology, art, architecture, and languages.

Classical education has produced some of the Western world’s greatest thinkers, scientists, and leaders, including the United States of America’s founding fathers.

Beginning in the twentieth century, there was a gradual shift from the classical education model to a progressive education model. In the last decade, however, classical education has reemerged as educators, parents, and students experience the lifelong benefits derived from a foundational classical education.

Woodstream Christian Academy integrates time-tested classical education teaching methods across all subject areas, including history, mathematics, art, science, and music. Our curriculum is infused with requirements for reading the great works of literature and ancient philosophy. In addition, students in grades 3-8 are required to study Latin.

Faith Based

It is the philosophy of WCA that the Bible is the authoritative Word of God and should be taught in the home, school and church. The foundations of education are laid at home, and the school serves to extend these foundations.

God is the center of our education and the Bible is the foundation of our philosophy of Christian education.
